The "RadioduinoWRT" – a do it yourself webradio

A great example of recycling old electronics and working with the Arduino platform is the result of enthusiast Raffael's latest project - an Internet-radio streaming device housed inside a classic Yamaha hifi tuner component enclosure. Based around the hackable TL-WR703N router with OpenWRT firmware, the radio uses a USB sound card to take care of the audio output - and an Arduino Mega is used to create a neat user interface that harnesses the orginal enclosure's buttons and a new LCD module for visual output - as shown in the following video:

This is a great project, and if you can score an old tuner deck from ebay or a second-hand dealer, the entire project would cost less than a new commercial unit. To make your own version, visit Raffael's interesting website. And for more, we're on twitter and Google+, so follow us for news and product updates as well.

When your projects need Ethernet, a more I/O than a Uno can offer, or running out of program and flash memory space - it's time to upgrade to the Freetronics EtherMega:

Quite simple the EtherMega is the fully-loaded Arduino-compatible board on the market today. Apart from being completely Arduino Mega2560-compatible, it includes full Ethernet interface, a microSD card socket, full USB interface, optional Power-over-Ethernet support and still has a circuit prototyping area with extra I2C interface pins. So if your project is breaking the limits, upgrade to the EtherMega today.
